An elegant, round-shaped incense burner with a lid that has a golden finial.
The technique used to create this incense burner is called "Aochibu", literally meaning "blue dots", and was perfected in Kutani 100 years ago. The surface is first finished with black, then a scrolling pattern is painstakingly painted over with pure gold. The blue dots are then studded one by one in between the scrolls. The dots on this particular work are placed in a swirling pattern, which is an extremely time-consuming technique.
Comes in a wooden box with the artist's signature.
